One of the most exciting things about my job is that I get to quilt the sample quilts for the Robert Kaufman fabric company. I just finished up this quilt for them and had so much fun quilting it!
I wish that I could have gotten a flat shot of the quilt, but unfortunately, time didn’t allow that! This quilt features the City Centre fabric by Print & Pattern. This fun, playful fabric was a blast to quilt and kept distracting me from my job!
What was I thinking?
Sometimes it can take forever to decide how I am going to quilt a quilt. This time, however, the ideas came quickly and easily. Even though the quilt was made up of adorable houses, I didn’t want the quilting to be so literal. So I opted for a geometric allover design for the houses, border, and middle strips (which you can see at the top of the picture)
I kept the quilting relatively simple in the houses and borders because I knew I was going to do some fun quilting in the background space. First, I quilted long swirls across the top of the sections and then quilted the straight lines. Below the houses, I added little tufts of grass. My 2 year old loved the quilt, so that’s a win in my book!
What do you think?
Would you like to play with some of this fabric, before it’s available? One of the many perks of quilting for the wonderful folks over at Robert Kaufman is that I get to keep the leftover fabric! I have about a half yard of this print, and one lucky reader will have the chance to win it!
Just leave a comment on this post and I will randomly pick a winner on Tuesday! Good luck!!
Happy Quilting!

I have only been reading your blog for a little while, but I get so much out of it. I have been quilting for many years, but I get to the completed top stage and get stalled. I really like how you analyze the quilts and the fact that you give interesting, understandable reasons for choosing the patterns you do. It really helps me in doing the same thing to my tops so I can choose how to quilt them. Thanks! (BTW, the houses quilt is adorable, and the quilting motifs very clever.
